Piled with seasoned sushi rice, shredded nori, daikon sprouts, seaweed salad and creamy wedges of avocado, they're a full meal. When the original Pacific Catch opened, it quickly became known for its wasabi bowls ($13.95-$14.95), which continue to find popularity in the Sunset.

Though they might be more expensive than those found elsewhere, they're a satisfying, if not exciting, version of the Mexican favorite. Those opting for lighter tacos can go for either barbecue salmon ($4.25-$14.95) with a sweet corn salsa or tropical shrimp ($4.25-$14.95) with chunks of mango and lime crema. Baja fish tacos ($4.25-$14.95) are a better fried option, as the coating shatters into a blanket of cooling items like avocado tomatillo salsa and jalapeno crema. They're much better than the Thai coconut shrimp skewers ($7.95), which are cloyingly sweet, and lose their crust as they slide off the wooden sticks. The crisp yet creamy shards have a slight spicy edge and are beyond addictive. No matter how you plan, however, don't miss the sweet potato fries ($4.50 a la carte included with many entrees). The menu is heavy on fried food, and if you don't order carefully, it's easy to get loaded down with the greasy options. It whets the appetite for food to follow, like densely battered fish and chips ($10.95-$14.95).

Still, it's hard to argue with the professional and quick service.Д¬hef Joanna Perel came from the chain's second location in Corte Madera, and executes a similar menu that borrows from Japan, Hawaii, Mexico and the tropics to enhance the sustainably sourced seafood menu.ДЄt the start of each meal, a complementary dish of pretzel goldfish and edamame is brought to the table, a welcome bit of finger food that's both kid- and adult-friendly. The staff caters to the target audience, and it can be slightly annoying for patrons without children to encounter such happy-go-lucky servers. It's almost a necessary divide for those wanting a break from the chaos of kid-land. The bar stays open two hours later than the dining room with a menu of bar bites, and it has an energy all its own. To the left of the entrance, a large bar draws a local young adult set, and offers some inventive cocktails like a lemongrass mojito ($8.50) and a Yuzu drop ($8). Life-size canvases with colorful maritime scenes complement ruby-hued walls, though the tiny square blue tiles that border the room look more institutional than decorative. The high ceiling helps temper the noise and makes conversations surprisingly easy, given the size of the room and crowd. Oversize, gem-shaped paper lanterns hang from the vaulted ceiling, which is made up of asymmetrically angled sheets of light maple plywood. Yet, the restaurant has other redeeming qualities.Д«ooths, tables and the counter make up the more than 140 seats in the Art Deco space, which boasts some interesting design elements. On a recent visit, a pile of fried squid ($8.95) was laced with fresh chiles and slices of battered lemon, but the light-blond crust was barely crisp and the seafood underneath bland and rubbery.
